Nowadays the number of trees or plants are continuously decreasing year after year, which has adverse impacts on our living environment. More and more people should be educated to have a common sense about deforestation and its consequences. This essay will delve into the primary reasons behind this issue and subsequently outline its potential effects.

From my own perspective, the foremost cause of deforestation is the expansion of residential areas. It is undeniable that the cost of living in urban areas is constantly rising due to the inflation and the price of raw materials; thus, both manufacturing and the government have no choice but to develop the farmland and greenery. Moreover, wood can be applied to many aspects, including paper, furniture and houses. Some of the trees are valuable, durable and rare resources, some of which made for wooden furniture, such as tables, chairs and doors due to their higher price.

The possible effects of this issue include the loss of biodiversity and exacerbation of global warming. First of all, the destruction of forests and jungles has negative impacts on our planet since some species may lose their habitats, resulting in their extinction. For instance, a study indicated that deforestation in Amazon has severe consequences for the biodiversity, putting various creatures at risk. Secondly, forests play a vital role as the Earth’s lungs since plantations convert carbon dioxide to oxygen, providing the fresh air for all livings. Without them, it will definitely accelerate the rate of global warming, contributing to rising sea levels and extreme weather conditions.

In conclusion, deforestation is resulted from human activities and higher economic value of trees, leading to the loss of biodiversity and climate change. It is imperative that all individuals should cooperate to alleviate the impact of this environmental challenge.
