The bar charts detail noise levels in Europe in 2007 delineated by time of day and rural or urban location.
Overall, it is evident that traffic was the most dominant factor affecting residents whether in city or rural areas. On the country, industry had the least effects.
Looking at the charts more closely, majority of people in cities were affected by the noise of traffic, with 64 million and 48 million people in day and night, respectively. It is notable that rural scope had similar pattern with city since the number of traffic was accounted the highest figures in the chart, with 58 million in total. Turning to noise from trains, in cities, 10 million individuals were impacted in the day and 8 million at night. In rural areas, this data was only slightly lower (8 million and 6 million).
Both numbers of annoyed people by aircraft and industry were truly low. There was only 4 million people affected by aircraft noise during the day compared to 1 million people at night time. Surprisingly, the noise from industry was the smallest amount in two charts because solely 1.25 million in city experienced the noisy pollution. Furthermore, no one was bothered in rural area regardless of day or night.
