Some university students want to learn about other subjects in addition to their main subjects. Other believe it is more important to give all their time and attention to studying for a qualification.
Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
It is undeniable that university offers students numerous and various courses to hone their skills and talents. While some argue that academic institutions should prioritize the primary field of study, opponents advocate for a diverse education. Personally, I support the latter perspective and I will provide both viewpoints in this essay.
Proponents of studying main subject argue that these can increase their academic performance. They posit that students are susceptible to distractions from various coursework and assignments in multiple subjects, ultimately leading to a dilution of their attention on the core curriculum. Consequently, diversifying subjects could have adverse impacts on their learning outcomes, resulting in lower average scores and diminishing the importance of the original subjects.
On the contrary, delving into different areas of expertise can significantly broaden oneโs horizons. First of all, general education not only contribute to mental and physical well-being health but open up opportunities in various academic fields. For instance, the rising awareness of health issues has led an increased in psychological or biological courses. Secondly, exposure to multiple subjects can greatly benefit oneโs career path. Consider data science, where an exceptional data scientist needs proficiency in both statistics and computer science. Mastery of these diverse subjects undoubtedly enhances employability.
In my opinion, I recommend freshmen or sophomores should explore different courses to discover their interests. This approach fosters their creativity, cultivates varied perspectives, and contributes to a more comprehensive, healthier, and positive educational system.
In conclusion, there are different opinions on focusing oneโs subjects, including increasing personal performance and opening oneโs horizons. From my own view, I advocate for university students to devote themselves to their main subject while also embracing a range of other subjects.
